A new 'Compostable Food Serviceware Buying Guide' aims to provide restaurants and other food service businesses alternatives to plastic take-out containers and serviceware, like cups, plates, bowls and utensils.

The guide was released by CARE for the Cape & Islands and created in collaboration with the Wellfleet Recycling Committee and Woods Hole Sea Grant. The guide grew out of our on-going series of summits aimed at decreasing the amount of waste, particularly plastic, in our environment. 

 

The goal of this buying guide is to encourage restaurants and other food service businesses to use non-plastic disposable food serviceware when durable serviceware is not an option. This guide is a living document which will be updated periodically as new products become available.
